APVIA Workshop: Exchange on Solar and Storage in APAC

From April 30 to May 1, the Asia Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) held a regional workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The workshop brought together representatives from key Asia-Pacific markets — including Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Australia. Participants shared updates on national solar and storage development, covering targets, grid conditions, financing environments, and workforce availability.

Regional Exchange: Common Challenges Emerging

From the exchanges, while markets are at different stages of development and follow varied pathways, several common challenges were highlighted in advancing solar and storage, including:

·grid access and system capacity
·financing channels and investment environments
·workforce and technical capacity

While these challenges manifest differently across countries, they are often interconnected in practice and remain key areas of focus.

Collaboration Discussions: Exploring Regional Opportunities

During the workshop, participants also explored potential areas for cross-border collaboration, including regional knowledge sharing, industry coordination, and capacity building.

In addition, discussions covered APVIA’s scope of work, industry influence, and future growth potential, reflecting on its role at the regional level from different perspectives.

The workshop provided a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing key issues across the APAC solar and storage sector.
